Show: Maura Sweeney: Living Happy Inside and Out
“I may qualify as a definite late bloomer, but what I do today thoroughly lives in my DNA,” she reflects. A alumna of Boston College with a B.A. in Political Science, she exited law school mid-stream to find her own purpose and passion in life, free from early grooming and family expectations.
Author, Podcaster, International Speaker and Huffington Post Blogger, Maura Sweeney today is the officially trademarked Ambassador of Happiness. She laughs today at the moniker, noting that her grandmother often called her “Waterworks”, an apt nickname for the frequent tears she shed growing up.
As kids her age were thinking about becoming a doctor, plumber, nurse or astronaut, Maura was planning instead to grow into an adulthood that would make her feel both happy and free.
“I dreamed about flying in airplanes around the world. I wanted to meet new friends in foreign cultures,” she reflects. There was also a curious fascination, watching her grandfather’s legal secretary create documents on an old, standard typewriter. “I was amazed by the notion that someone could publish words and ideas that other people would want to read and consider!”
Frequently referred to as a goodwill ambassador, Maura muses at her past with a smile.
“If I could have crafted a career when I was only five years old, it would reflect much of what I’m doing today.”
Appearing on NBC-TV, Britain’s BBC, Serbian TV news, Macedonian press and over 100 media outlets in the U.S. and abroad, Maura is also a lecturer on topics of Influence and Leadership. Leveraging a corporate leadership background and her paradigm shifting experiences, Maura has been a featured speaker at several international conferences, universities, leadership groups and U.S. Embassy outposts.
The former corporate manager, business co-owner and home schooling mom has traveled to nearly 60 countries. Passionate about people from every background, she shares stories that unite rather than divide and helps us see what’s best in us all.
Recommended by Law of Attraction magazine, Maura has also developedFoundations of Happiness, a multi-media, self-study course helping others improve their emotional intelligence and find their way to personal happiness and refreshed identity. “I hope that everyone can learn from this course — to reflect, to find what’s good within them and to step out into a brighter life experience.”
