There are many causes that are dear to my heart. As many people around the world, I am sensitive to other people’s sufferings and I wish that one day hunger, poverty, dictatorship, or any kind of pain, will be erased from the face of the Earth. As John Lennon wrote: “Imagine all the people living life in peace…”

There are many great charities out there but, unfortunately, I don’t know them all. I have given money to charity for many years, locally and internationally. Giving makes me feel good. For most of our lives we work, work, work, for our personal gratification. In the end, our work is not about us it is about other people. When you give, you open your hands for more.

Here are some of the local and international charities I support. I encourage all of you to give as much as you can, not just monetarily but also physically, and timewise. The world needs you.

opsmile_logojpg-2Operation Smile is an international medical charity that has provided hundreds of thousands of free surgeries for children and young adults in developing countries who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities. It is one of the oldest and largest volunteer-based organizations dedicated to improving the health and lives of children worldwide through access to surgical care.

ANVlogoAction Nouvelle Vie: This is a local charity that I support. They do so many great things around the Montreal, South Shore area, and they have been around for a long time also. They give to families and individuals who live in poverty and they focus particularly on the well-being of the children. They concentrate on their basic needs and they help with the social rehabilitation of the individuals. Their website is in French.

redcross-logoThe Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.  The Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; our communities are ready and prepared for disasters; everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.
