Prefab Barn – There is no doubt that Swedish architects and designers have many ingenious ideas. Of course, this does not demean their peers from the rest of the world. But I will have to be honest and admit. That I always find these types of projects. Which is come from the cold countries of northern Europe always attractive to me. Today we have this house that is nothing more than a barn. That has been transformed into a beautiful and functional home.
The project was commissioned by some architect and consists of an old prefab barn. That was completely rehabilitated to create a holiday cottage. Requested by a private client, this house finds its foundations in a structure. That originally had not been designed for a family to live inside. The challenge was then to think how to use the structure to transform it into a functional home.
This architect decided to integrate prefab barn elements to reduce costs. And also to modernize the structure in a simple way. Concrete panels were installed to reinforce and give a very Scandinavian minimal style. Large windows were opened to let in lots of light. While sliding doors allow you to close the entrances and keep the heat at night.
